The Bâtarde (or Bastarda) is an early French Gothic with strong informal traits and some sweeping calligraphic strokes. It was in use during the 14th and 15th centuries and played a key role in the later development of the fractur. It is infused with calligraphic playfulness.

It came in many different versions, including Flemish Bastarda and scripts moving towards Gothic cursive and the later Civilité. We will focus on a classic Bâtarde.

This is a mini workshop over two weeks. You are getting all the benefits of access to videos for two months, corrections in Slack and a workbook as pdf. All levels are welcome!
